MATEKSYS BEC20S-PRO 7-85V TO 5V/8V/12V-5A
The MATEKSYS BEC20S-PRO is Matek’s high-voltage regulator for builds that have outgrown a standard 6S-12S BEC. With an input range of 7V to 85V, it’s built to sit comfortably on high-cell-count VTOL, cargo, and long-range platforms ā including 20S+ setups ā without needing a separate step-down stage.
Output voltage is selectable between 5.2V, 8V, or 12V (5.2V by default), so the same board can power a flight controller, video system, or 12V accessory depending on your build. It’s built on a synchronous buck topology, which keeps efficiency high (88ā96% typical) across a wide input range rather than dumping the difference as heat ā a common weak point on cheaper linear BECs at high voltage.
Continuous output current is rated at 5A, with a 9A peak, and output ripple stays low even at high input voltage (30mV at 50V-in/5.2V-out, 60mV at 50V-in/12V-out). Protection is comprehensive: thermal shutdown, overcurrent protection with self-recovery, and short-circuit tolerance for up to 2 seconds ā the kind of margin you want on a board buried inside a build where you won’t notice a fault immediately.
An EN pin lets you gate the output externally (pull below 0.5V to shut it down), which is handy for staged power-up sequences or remote power cycling of accessories. Standby draw is minimal at 5ā10mA.
Note: This board has no reverse-input-voltage protection, so correct polarity on install is essential. Also note the 2V dropout voltage means a 12V output requires at least 14V input for stable regulation ā factor that into your battery selection if you’re running the 12V output on a lower-cell-count pack.
At just 35 Ć 24 Ć 5.5mm and 5g, it adds negligible weight to your build ā an easy add for a dedicated video or accessory power rail on larger platforms.
Best for: High-cell-count multirotors, VTOL, cargo drones, and long-range builds needing a dedicated, high-efficiency 5V/8V/12V accessory rail.
